The sheer lust for Crème de la Mer is legion. Most girls would trade a kidney to dip their fingertips into what is known as one of the most luxurious necessities, and what has developed a devoted following simply by word of mouth.
But, is the cream worth the €€244 (for 60ml) price tag? Read on and you shall find out.
Firstly, I have to confess, I’m not exactly a poster child for a well-balanced lifestyle. Years of burning the candle at both ends, constantly forgetting to take my vitamins, heading out the door without a hat and sunscreen and not getting my eight glasses of water a day, has left me with redness, patchiness, and dark circles masquerading as heirlooms from my mother.
Luckily for me, I have been using the classic Crème de la Mer for some time now, but have never really felt that comfortable blogging about it. Mainly due to the cost but also for the difficulties some people have found in applying such a thick texture. Applying Creme De La Mer the same way you would with another hydratating cream is the greatest mistake one can make. I admit it it looks greesy after applied but takes about 1 minute to be perfectly absorbed. The smell is nice and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. The skin does look smoother, firmer and more radiant. Despite the sensitivity of my skin and its tendency to break out with new products, this it did neither, suggesting it is good for all skin types.
Incorporating La Mer’s cream into my beauty repertoire makes me look forward to this daily ritual. I’ve been waiting for a simple and luxurious skincare line that works harder than I do but one that’s kind to my sensitive skin, and it seems I don’t have to look any further than La Mer.
