Good shampoos and conditioners are exceptionally hard to find these days. Most of the major brands that are household names are all made with chemicals and preservatives that actually damage your hair and create additional problems with extended use. Hence why I have been eager to find good sulfate-free products to use on my hair and recently I stumbled across Pureology’s Hydrate Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner.
The ethos behind both shampoo and conditioner is simple – gently cleanse your hair without stripping its colour. Its organic moisturising formula will hydrate dry, colour-treated hair to reveal soft, lustrous locks while protecting colour vibrancy. Bearing in mind you don’t have to use much of this shampoo, a little goes a long way.
The shampoo formula is an opaque purple liquid while the conditioner is an off-white thick cream. I find you need to clearly look at the bottle each time before you pour some into your hand otherwise you will waste a batch. This shampoo lathers up very nicely and gives your hair a healthy dose of essential vitamins and nutrients that it needs to grow faster, become stronger, look shinier, and feel silky smooth.
The packaging of these products are near identical, except the conditioner is inverted so it stands on the lid but luckily the other end is flat as well so if you are anal like me you can just flip it the ‘correct’ way up and the issue is solved. Both bottle have nearly identical writing on the front so if you aren’t paying attention you could easily mistake the conditioner for the shampoo. I did this the first time I used them.
I was fearful the Hydrate products would be too rich for my hair but I have found them to be ideal. They leave my hair incredibly soft, smooth and frizz free. My scalp remains oil-free for an average of 2-3 days, which is what I am used to, but my ends don’t get as dried out as they usually do in that time.
If you’re looking for a shampoo that’ll provide a deep cleansing without irritating your scalp, Pureology Hydrate may be your knight in shining armor. It’s a superb product that cleans hair well, injects tons of moisture into the scalp, and it’s completely safe to use on color-treated hair, too. This will 100% be repurchased again and again, as I can’t get over how lovely it leaves my hair. You can pick each of these up in Peter Marks for €18.50 for the shampoo and €22.50 for the conditioner.
