Bog Bean Designs

Hello Lovelies,

Today’s post features one of my favorite types of pieces to wear, that being a skirt! I have teamed up with Bog Bean Designs to showcase how a handmade luxury knitwear skirt can also be fun exciting when given the right pattern and colours. First off, I love, love, love Bog Bean Designs (you may remember my Pom Pom Hat that I have worn endlessly on some of my previous posts) and if you had the chance to see their range, you need to go check it out!

This skirt is a great colour that suits the wonderful ruggedness of this lovely chunky skirt. In pure handmade knitted wool, this storm grey skirt has small flecks of grey and white that appear to conjure up the thought of Atlantic storm clouds rolling in. Hand loomed and hand finished, with pride, in Co. Donegal, Ireland. These designs such as a diamond twist and a honeycomb are based on the patterns of nature. All the hand knit stitches have a meaning, or tell a story, and are closely related to the earth, the sea or home life. One of the most famous stitches, the cable, represents a fisherman’s hardy rope, while the zig-zag represents the lane ways of the Aran Islands. Many also have a religious significance, like the ladder which represents a stairway to heaven.

The inspiration for this unique yarn has been attributed to the colours of the local landscape, utilising skills that have been handed down through generations to create Genuine Donegal Yarns in Kilcar, South West Donegal. Bog Beans Designs are available in a wide variety of colours, styles, patterns and sizes – if you have any questions their Knitwear or if you would like to get a quote for a custom piece you can contact Anna at
