The Lyrath Hotel

Hello Lovelies,

Happy Thursday! How has everyones week been?

As some of you may know I was recently invited down to stay in The Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny for our first Mother’s Day as a family. If any of you follow me on either Snapchat (GlamMeetsGirl) or my Instagram you will know that it is almost like my home away from home these days!

We checked in mid Sunday afternoon. Check-in was so smooth, the porter helped load our trolley which was great as carrying luggage with a baby is not ideal, and as we walked to the lifts and our room, he talked to us about the different aspects of the hotel, restaurants, spa and so on. Our room was on the first floor which was great for easy access especially when you have a little one.

We stayed in an upgraded room and it was truly lovely! The King Bed was a real treat as was the sitting area overlooking the estate. The room was spacious (which is vitial when you are travelling with a baby) and exquisitely furnished in a modern style which compliments the hotels latest refurbishments. Our room was so beautiful we couldnt resist ordering room service so that we could enjoy the stunning views over a leisurely lunch.

Early on Monday morning we went out for a big walk around the estate. There is a walking route around the perimeter and grounds – it’s not a path so much as a defined way to follow, in parts its a little rough ground but its more than manageable and nice to be able to get out for some fresh air.

The Oasis Spa is a haven of a place in which to soak away your stress. The hydrotherapy pool was by far my favourite dwelling point, covered but open to the outside is gorgeous and the spa is a great way to spend a couple of hours truly relaxing and getting away from all the madness!

The hotel has several eating options, including Tupper’s bar in the old house and Yindee’s which has an Eastern theme. We ate in the more formal La Perla restaurant, which looks out on to the gardens. Our meal was perfectly balanced, with main courses of salmon and beef flavoursome but not too filling. The service was perfectly pitched, friendly without being overbearing; we were a little early and the main rush hadn’t begun, but the staff weren’t tripping over to refill our glasses, which can sometimes happen just before a hotel dining-room fills up.

For those with kids, who are on the look-out for family-friendly destinations, The Lyrath Hotel is somewhere I really can’t recommended enough — the toddlers and children running around at breakfast-time certainly didn’t draw the exasperated looks you see can occasionally in other hotels. The fact that the grounds are so spacious will also appeal; those prairie spaces are just right for tiring out little legs before bedtime.

The Lyrath Estate Hotel is set amid 170 acres of mature parkland, just 1.2 km from Kilkenny City. Not only does the hotel have bicycles for pootling about the estate, a 22-seat cinema, games room, gym and pool. This award winning estate Hotel fuses contemporary design with the elegance of its original 17th century house. It comprises of 137 luxury bedrooms separate from the main body of the hotel in order to guarantee its guests a peaceful and private stay.

Not to mention they are currently running a two night Easter Eggstravaganza from only €175pps which includes the following:

  • Dinner on 1 Evening for the Adults in either La Perla or Yindees Restaurant (open alternate nights midweek)
  • On-site Tree House Kids Club is available to keep the children entertained!  FREE Morning & Evening Activities.
  • Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday
  • Kids Club activities include – Easter Cookie decoration, Magician, Fishing, nature walks & much more

So if you are looking for a cosy base from which to launch your conquest of Kilkenny, it could hardly be bettered.
