The G Hotel – Galway

Good Morning Lovelies,

After a pretty manic couple of weeks you might have noticed on my Instagram (Glam Meets Girl) that we were away for the weekend in the one and only Galway for a triple 30th Birthday celebration. So when we decided a few months ago that we were going to visit Galway there was only one place that we were going to stay in and that had to be The G Hotel. As it was a celebration as Niall is turning 30 at the end of the month we decided to indulge in a little Galway getaway to undoubtedly one of the most stylish hotels in Ireland.

For those of you who are not familiar with The G Hotel, Milliner Philip Treacy, a native of Galway, turned hotel designer at the G, is a five-star property with 101 rooms and suites on the edge of the city. The location, at the front of a retail park, is unusual, and the décor not to everyone’s taste, but many guests are won over by the food and comfortable rooms. Its only a five minute drive or 15 minutes walk from the centre of Galway, looking over Lough Atalia. I would say very well placed for explorations of both the city and the surrounding Wild Atlantic Way.

This is an ultra modern hotel and Galway’s only five star, but yet still manages to foster a warmth and steer away from feeling clinical. One of the things that struck me was how well designed each chic, contemporary signature lounge was, that along with the fact each one was bustling with guests. The hall upstairs on the way to the bedroom feels like your in a theatre long dark low lighting. The G seems to be one of those spots where local people love to meet for a cocktail, enjoy some Afternoon tea or just catch up with a casual bite to eat.

The décor in bedrooms and bathrooms is much more restrained, in neutral hues, with flourishes confined to lamps and door and cupboard handles in the sinuous shapes of Treacy’s hats. We were upgraded to a luxury room which had a wonderfully comfortable bed, and a bathroom with free-standing tub and double walk-in shower and we were greeted on arrival with some cupcakes, birthday treats and a bottle of bubbly to start the celebrations for the weekend which was a lovely surprise. There was also the added extra of breakfast being served until 12pm on Sunday and check out was not until 1pm which felt like an added bonus as sometimes it feel like it’s a rush to make breakfast and check out.

All in all I would definitely stay here again! I think next time I would do a girls trip and enjoy the afternoon tea, some cocktails at the bar and another trip to the Spa for some rest and relaxation! If you are thinking about visiting the West I really would highly recommend The G Hotel, it is the perfect setting for any occasion!

As Always Love,

Glam Meets Girl x
