Laser Hair Removal – Havana Therapy

Hello Lovelies,

Are you considering getting laser hair removal? Laser hair removal is something that I have thought about getting done for some time now. So when Havana Skin Clinic IFSC got in touch to see if I would be interested in trying it I jumped at the opportunity. The IFSC Clinic is situated in an ideal location for me as it is just a 10 minute walk from Connolly Station in Dublin.

At the beginning of May I dropped in for my consultation and my therapist talked me through the entire process, what to expect and all about the aftercare. We also had a chat about what areas I would like to get treated and I filled out a few of forms and did the mandatory patch test to ensure that I was suitable for the treatments. I was then scheduled in for my first treatment in the middle of May. I was told I would need up to six laser hair removal treatments overall and that these would be spaced out so I would have to come back every four to six weeks.

Havana Skin Clinic is one of the largest providers of Laser Hair Removal in Ireland and offers a wide selection of non-surgical and high-tech image-enhancing procedures for both your body and face.

What Is Hair Removal?

Laser Hair Removal for women is the most effective method of removing unwanted hair. Why continue to wax and shave when you can have a smooth and silky body with a course of Laser Hair Removal? Sounds good to me!

How did I find my first treatment?

I have a normal pain threshold so you could say I was a little nervous before going in for my first session. However, Caroline from Havana and all the girls in fact were all so nice and patient with me that they put my mind at great ease so when I begun my initial treatment my nerves were non existent. Now I can honestly say that I didn’t find the treatments that uncomfortable more so like a little pinch on my skin every now and then but they were over in no time and the “pain” (if you would even call it that) literally lasts seconds.

Before my appointment I was told to shave the areas being treated 24hours before the laser treatment. I was also advised that I could not wax, tweeze, apply tan or expose my skin to the sun before undergoing the treatment. The treatment lasted approximately 20 minutes. The areas I had treated were my under arms, bikini and stomach. During the treatment a laser gun is pressed lightly onto the skin for a couple of seconds. There is a beep, flash and tingling sensation. It is a quick process which is ideal if you’re short on time. My aftercare, couldn’t be simpler, there is just one product you will need to use – Aloe Vera which heals and restores the area of skin being treated.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, Yes and Yes! Havana Skin Clinic itself is one of the nicest I have been in. The treatments are great value for money and I am so happy with the results after one session that I am looking forward to seeing the overall result.

There you have it – my latest review! I hope I’ve answered all of your questions but if you have more feel free to comment below or drop me a PM.

Until next time,

The Aurora Band Night Roller

Lets face it having perfect hair when you wake up is every girl’s dream. Sadly, if you want a good nights sleep the likelihood of waking up without a strand out of place is pretty slim… well, that is what I thought until I discovered The Aurora Band Night Roller!

I came across this product a few months back. I was on watching some hair tutorials on youtube and you know when you are recommended a video, then the following recommended video, so on and so forth. You end up somewhere that you haven’t really branched out to before but I happened to symbol across The Aurora Band Night Roller.

What is the Aurora Band Night Roller?

It is a velcro and foam roller that fit’s around the head in one whole piece. The concept is similar to that of Sleep In Rollers, however the Aurora Hair Roller is much easier (and quicker) to use. This night roller is ideally suited for use in long, layered hair.

The band is designed to style your hair while you sleep. To use the Aurora Band, wash your hair as usual and remove moisture from hair until it is slightly damp. Brush thoroughly and choose your desired parting. Place the Aurora Band on your head and secure on your forehead.

In the morning remove the band by unlooping the hair from the nape of the neck to the front (I have to admit I found it a little difficult to remove the band at the beginning but I am getting better at it). Shake out the hair and tease into style.

All in all I found the Aurora Night Roller very easy to use. It’s quick, simple, painless, no messing around with pins and it was comfortable to sleep in. Such a simple concept, yet really effective! Also, if you’re like me and your hair is prone to break from the heat of straighteners and curling wands, then this is the way to go! No heat means no damage.

The Lyrath Hotel

Hello Lovelies,

Happy Thursday! How has everyones week been?

As some of you may know I was recently invited down to stay in The Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny for our first Mother’s Day as a family. If any of you follow me on either Snapchat (GlamMeetsGirl) or my Instagram you will know that it is almost like my home away from home these days!

We checked in mid Sunday afternoon. Check-in was so smooth, the porter helped load our trolley which was great as carrying luggage with a baby is not ideal, and as we walked to the lifts and our room, he talked to us about the different aspects of the hotel, restaurants, spa and so on. Our room was on the first floor which was great for easy access especially when you have a little one.

We stayed in an upgraded room and it was truly lovely! The King Bed was a real treat as was the sitting area overlooking the estate. The room was spacious (which is vitial when you are travelling with a baby) and exquisitely furnished in a modern style which compliments the hotels latest refurbishments. Our room was so beautiful we couldnt resist ordering room service so that we could enjoy the stunning views over a leisurely lunch.

Early on Monday morning we went out for a big walk around the estate. There is a walking route around the perimeter and grounds – it’s not a path so much as a defined way to follow, in parts its a little rough ground but its more than manageable and nice to be able to get out for some fresh air.

The Oasis Spa is a haven of a place in which to soak away your stress. The hydrotherapy pool was by far my favourite dwelling point, covered but open to the outside is gorgeous and the spa is a great way to spend a couple of hours truly relaxing and getting away from all the madness!

The hotel has several eating options, including Tupper’s bar in the old house and Yindee’s which has an Eastern theme. We ate in the more formal La Perla restaurant, which looks out on to the gardens. Our meal was perfectly balanced, with main courses of salmon and beef flavoursome but not too filling. The service was perfectly pitched, friendly without being overbearing; we were a little early and the main rush hadn’t begun, but the staff weren’t tripping over to refill our glasses, which can sometimes happen just before a hotel dining-room fills up.

For those with kids, who are on the look-out for family-friendly destinations, The Lyrath Hotel is somewhere I really can’t recommended enough — the toddlers and children running around at breakfast-time certainly didn’t draw the exasperated looks you see can occasionally in other hotels. The fact that the grounds are so spacious will also appeal; those prairie spaces are just right for tiring out little legs before bedtime.

The Lyrath Estate Hotel is set amid 170 acres of mature parkland, just 1.2 km from Kilkenny City. Not only does the hotel have bicycles for pootling about the estate, a 22-seat cinema, games room, gym and pool. This award winning estate Hotel fuses contemporary design with the elegance of its original 17th century house. It comprises of 137 luxury bedrooms separate from the main body of the hotel in order to guarantee its guests a peaceful and private stay.

Not to mention they are currently running a two night Easter Eggstravaganza from only €175pps which includes the following:

  • Dinner on 1 Evening for the Adults in either La Perla or Yindees Restaurant (open alternate nights midweek)
  • On-site Tree House Kids Club is available to keep the children entertained!  FREE Morning & Evening Activities.
  • Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday
  • Kids Club activities include – Easter Cookie decoration, Magician, Fishing, nature walks & much more

So if you are looking for a cosy base from which to launch your conquest of Kilkenny, it could hardly be bettered.

Yo Chi Teatox Review

Hi Gang,

Today’s post is all about my detox that I tried out. Now until recently I have never done any type of detox before so this was all pretty new to me. Like many of you, I have heard a lot about the idea of a “teatox” and I decided to put it to the test and see how beneficial it actually is.

For those of you that might not know, I gave birth to my first baby 8 weeks ago, and although I am nearly back to my pre pregnancy weight, I wanted to try this detox to kick start a healthier routine after having my baby girl. As you can imagine, juggling a newborn baby, planning a house move and a wedding, just after having a baby means that my energy levels are at an all time low and my body needs a little extra help at the moment. Hence why I decided that it was time to kick start my diet and get back on track after having Baby May by eating healthier food and exercising more and I decided to try Yo Chi Tea from Therapie Clinic. It is a tea that helps with weight loss and it helps to relieve stress or anxiety too.

Yo Chi is actually based on an ancient Chinese recipe, originally created back in ancient times, to help with digestion. Made from completely natural ingredients such as lotus plant extracts, herbs and Oolong Green tea, it helps to purify he body’s cells, helping to promote weight loss naturally. This is what really appealed to me; weight loss that is natural is more likely to be sustainable.

How to use:

Have 2-4 cups of tea a day.

Use only two teabags a day, reusing each teabag once

Drink Morning and Afternoon

After a few days, I noticed a huge difference in my skin which was brighter and my stomach seemed so much flatter, not to mention I also had tons more energy. By combining regular exercise and eating healthy, and my Yo Chi Teatox I noticed a difference a lot quicker than I thought which was quiet surprising!

Overall, I am thrilled with my results and all of the benefits associated with drinking Yo Chi Tea! I would highly recommend the tea to anyone looking to lose a few pounds before an event or to anyone who purely wants to cleanse their body of toxins. This is my new favourite tea…I feel so light and refreshed after every cup. It is as though your sipping away the calories after each cup!

Yo Chi is available to purchase from and costs just €29.99 for a 30 day supply .

Killashee Hotel

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Tuesday!  As some of you might know I was in Killashee Hotel for the night last Thursday. We were searching around for somewhere new to go and I was highly recommended Killashee. The lovely people at the hotel invited me down so I was thrilled.

Let me first say that I am feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated after our trip away it was just what I needed! Killashee Hotel is absolutely amazing & I couldn’t recommend it enough for a mid-week break or a weekend away. There is such much to do there that you don’t even have to leave the grounds! From the Victorian grandeur of the Original House, to the acres of splendid gardens and gloriously wild woodland and trails, there are so many hidden places to explore. It is truly an enchanted setting, with a wonderfully rich history, that’s just waiting to be discovered.

The view is incredible it really makes you proud when you see how breathtaking our little country really is and how we can take it for granted sometimes. We had lunch in the bar, it was really lovely. Dinner was in the restaurant part of the hotel as you probably saw from my snaps it was delicious. The Bistro Restaurant is the name of it and it’s beautifully designed the ideal place to sit, relax and enjoy some culinary delight it’s ideal location for your Sunday lunch. We stayed in one of the junior suites which was like taking a step back in time in all the right ways! It offered both comfortable and spacious accommodation with the added luxury of a magnificent jacuzzi bath. From the old world charm highlighting the original house suites, the room had generous living space designed to ensure a haven of tranquillity, away from the hustle and bustle of it all.

Located just outside Naas in Co Kildare, the four-star Killashee Hotel feels like an utterly charming grand manor house. Killashee is very handy to get to from Dublin, and prices are reasonable to boot: they’re currently offering an Easter Bumper Package costing just €180 per night includes two nights’ accommodation for 2 adults and up to 3 children, full Irish breakfast each morning, dinner in The Bistro on an evening of your choice.  This package also includes full access to the Leisure Club, a 10% discount card for Kildare Village, 2 for the price of 1 access to Russborough House and 2 for the price of 1 to the Irish National Stud Visitor Centre.

This hotel would really be a fab trip idea for Mother’s Day or Easter. I do love to go on nights away so I am on a mission to visit more locations around Ireland as it was so nice to just get away stay somewhere new….eat ,sleep and well have a drink of water in my case.

Will we be back? You betcha.

As Always,

Juice Delivery Dublin

Hi Lovelies,

So as some of you may know I decided to try out a 3 Day Juice Cleanse from Juice Delivery Dublin last week because after having Baby May I felt as though it was time for a body detox in order to get my body back on track after my pregnancy. I consider myself a pretty healthy eater, so I had never really considered doing a juice cleanse before and never really thought that it would be something enjoyable or practical to fit into everyday life. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a bash and was really surprised by how it went.

My cleanse started on a Tuesday morning as Juice Delivery Dublin advised me that it was important to cut down on refined foods a day or two before the cleanse. The idea is that you have 5 juices each day and between the juices you drink as much water, lemon juice and non-caffeinated herbal teas as possible. The juices are delivered frozen, so a little freezer space is necessary. Each juice is made from a variety of natural ingredients, each with it’s own nutritional and detoxifying properties. The usual juicing ingredients such as apple, orange, carrot and pineapple with more unusual ones like broccoli, avacado, beetroot and yellow pepper make up each juice.

In preparation for the detox, firstly I cut down on my caffeine intake leading up to my cleanse. The juices were delivered frozen in order to retain maximum nutrients. So it was a case of taking each Juice out of the freezer the night before and putting them in the fridge to defrost. All juices are clearly labelled Day 1, Juice 1 or Day 2, Juice 2 so you know exactly which juice is due next. It was recommended that I begin each day with some hot water and lemon as this is really detoxifying and full of Vitamin C and can also be drank throughout the day which I found pretty helpful.

I used to take my Juice out of the fridge 2 hours before drinking it to ensure that it was completely defrosted but if it wasn’t I just placed it in a jug of warm water for 10 minutes and it was ready to be drunk. I choose to stick to the guideline times provided for the Juices which were 08:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00.

The whole idea behind doing a cleanse is to give your digestive system a break and flood your body with nutrients. However, it is worth noting that this isn’t a quick weight loss fix. I feel lighter and not remotely bloated, my jeans are already looser, my energy levels are so much better and I lost my taste for refined foods. It’s a great way to turn a new leaf with your diet and I am definitely glad I did it. It’s also gotten me out of the bad habit of mindless snacking that I had gotten myself into. Now that I know what to expect I think it would be easier the next time too. At a reasonable price of €60 for the three days it’s an investment in your health and body. Juice Delivery Dublin is definitely something to consider doing if you want to give your health a kick start.

Bog Bean Designs

Hello Lovelies,

Today’s post features one of my favorite types of pieces to wear, that being a skirt! I have teamed up with Bog Bean Designs to showcase how a handmade luxury knitwear skirt can also be fun exciting when given the right pattern and colours. First off, I love, love, love Bog Bean Designs (you may remember my Pom Pom Hat that I have worn endlessly on some of my previous posts) and if you had the chance to see their range, you need to go check it out!

This skirt is a great colour that suits the wonderful ruggedness of this lovely chunky skirt. In pure handmade knitted wool, this storm grey skirt has small flecks of grey and white that appear to conjure up the thought of Atlantic storm clouds rolling in. Hand loomed and hand finished, with pride, in Co. Donegal, Ireland. These designs such as a diamond twist and a honeycomb are based on the patterns of nature. All the hand knit stitches have a meaning, or tell a story, and are closely related to the earth, the sea or home life. One of the most famous stitches, the cable, represents a fisherman’s hardy rope, while the zig-zag represents the lane ways of the Aran Islands. Many also have a religious significance, like the ladder which represents a stairway to heaven.

The inspiration for this unique yarn has been attributed to the colours of the local landscape, utilising skills that have been handed down through generations to create Genuine Donegal Yarns in Kilcar, South West Donegal. Bog Beans Designs are available in a wide variety of colours, styles, patterns and sizes – if you have any questions their Knitwear or if you would like to get a quote for a custom piece you can contact Anna at

Blake & Brooke

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, let me just say that this is not going to turn into a baby blog, though I’ll confess that my Instagram has been invaded by a certain little lady. I’ve tried to keep Baby May and baby stuff in general to a minimum on Glam Meets Girl, since lots of you get squirmy about kids’ stuff and I totally get it because for non-parents it’s a real snooze fest to suffer through.

However, recently I have had so many requests and messages regarding Baby May’s outfits that I have decided to share with you some of her favourite (really my favourite) outfits on her style. I thought I would compile all my favorite baby styling tips and tricks into one post for all those who have been inquisitive.

I love putting together fun outfits for my baby (it’s sort of like a hobby) and I only have one child so I have a bit more time to do so. BUT, I do realize that it’s not always practical to get your baby dressed up and that some days are just for hanging out in loungey clothes, but that doesn’t have to mean pajamas.

A little back story. Before May arrived, like all new moms I searched high and low for cute baby clothes. We knew that we were having a little girl and the plan was always that Baby May would have dressed in a very fun style – lots of polka dot tights with skirts and dresses and super cute shoes – a little edgy feminine boho girl. And so the fashion search began! I soon came across a baby boutique store by the name of Blake & Brooke who I am totally obsessed with! Blake & Brooke offer high quality, fashionable, baby clothes online at a price point that really beats the competition. Focusing predominantly on sizes 0-3 months there pieces are both unique and of the highest quality!

If you are looking for some super cute outfits for your baby girl or boy….Blake & Brooke is just for you! All of there clothing is personally tested and quality approved prior to displaying it. There motto being if we wouldn’t put it on our own baby, it simply won’t make it onto our site. Here is a link to there website Blake And Brooke you will thank me later. Happy Shopping!
